/This would be a place to collect all the Best of Indian Wikipedia / Wikimedia both in terms on content as well as efforts and to recognize people behind them.//

I appreciate this goal, but it is difficult to achieve (because of lack of knowledge or other reasons) and I believe it can be counter productive. In the case of English Wikipedia, the contributions are so enormous, it is difficult to pin-point. In the case of Tamil Wikipedia, where I have been active, I can say with some confidence that it is hard to accord "recognition". There are contributors who have written only a few articles but they are such inspiring and signature contributions, and there are others who have written enormous number of articles and have made large number of edits but their articles per se are not the best of the breed, and yet very important in many ways, including as a catalyst. Few like Mr. Mayooranathan, in Tamil Wikipedia, who have made outstanding contributions (both in the number of articles and the excellence of qulaity and selection of important topics) can be safely named. So for Tamil I would say Mr. Mayooranathan is unique. But then, the contributions of Mr. Kanags is equally great, not only in Tamil Wikipedia, but in Wikinews. Others have made contributions which are so very vital for the very success of the Tamil WP, but in terms of number of articles written, it may be somewhat small. If some 25-30 people can be named without ranking them, I can attempt. The Tamil Wikipedia community on the whole had been incredible in my opinion. --C.R.Selvakumar 21:28, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I made some additions, but I guess I didn't sign in before I added them, but it is me :)--C.R.Selvakumar 17:45, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your concern Selva, but the point is to show the audience at the event some awesome stuff people worked on and to inspire that even they could do some of the things and make them motivated to contribute with a "can do" feeling. The list may not be exhaustive, but please feel free to add more (Even the one good article creator). While all efforts in any manner of contribution is recognized and appreciated, this list is just to highlight key milestones from the project perspective.
