From Wikipedia 10

I remain as committed to Wikipedia as I was when I became part of it eight years ago. However, I dislike the ways in which Wikimedia promotes Wikipedia, and I dislike it when the faces of individuals are used to brand Wikipedia. These projects are all collaborations. There being no single author of any article means we should not be using individuals as part of the branding. I dislike the warping of the front page today, and I am disappointed that Jimmy Wales' photo is today's featured picture. That is *not* what the Featured Pictures section is intended for. Wikipedia promotions should champion the non-authoritarian slant of work in these articles and in these systems and not lionize individuals as pop icons and celebrities.

With all that, I still wish Wikipedia a happy 10th birthday. And I look forward to another amazing ten years with you all. Much love, Kingturtle 02:04, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
