This is a very interesting idea. But it could perhaps be organized in subpages, imho --g 00:18, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good suggestion. Moka is still uploading the stories we have so far, but once that happens we can move them to subpages and then summarize all the stories here. Steven Walling at work 00:23, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

European Year of Volunteering 2011

The European Union elects each year as the "Europan Year of x, where x is a subject the Union wants to draw attention to. For more information about these "European Years", see en:Category:European "Years". The next year, 2011, has by the European Union been elected European Year of Volunteering. It has it's own website. Now, you maay ask, how is this relevant for us? Well, the Year's website encougurages people to submit their own stories about their own volunteering - and since none of us is paid to work for Wikipedia, I'd say all of our stories suit the scope. My idea is that everyone who writes a story for this Our Stories page here at the celebration wiki, also sends their story to the European Year's website. If, say, nonethemore and nonetheless than 10 people would do this, the site would be flooded, and hopefully, the EU (and the public) would understand the importance of Wikipedia and how awesome it is that people put so much time and energy into the project, completely voluntary! I already submitted mine a few days ago, and today, I could find it on the site: read it here. Perhaps we could write something about this on the page "Our Stories"?
