Organizing the event

Volunteering & Participating

Can we plan to have the event with about 100 participants? In that case, I think we would need around 5-7 members in the event organizing team. 3 of proposed activities under the event agenda are to be led by Wikipedia contributors; hence I think we need to have atleast 3 active Wikipedia contributors in the organizing team. --Naik 01:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

atJohn Thomas: I have moved your name to the list of participants since we could not discuss about your interest. In case you are interested in joining the organizing team, can you please share your ideas and how you can contribute for the event? --Naik 01:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Venue, Facilities & Funds

If we have to rent a space, we would need money, and I understand that we have to mobilize the fund by ourselves. For this we should fix the date. Know how many people would participate etc. So please pour in your ideas really quick. Azm 20:45, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To book a space we have to fix the date first. You cant have a venue in Kochi unless you know the date. There could be other possibilities. If there is somebody out here working or studying in places like CUSAT, you could get a hall with out a rent, for an event like this. Probably you can think of associating some students associations (at CUSAT) with this. That would ensure more participation. Azm 16:05, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Integrating Govt. local bodies like panchayaths, municipalities or corporations would bring credibility and the required money for the program. --User

We are currently evaluating the possibility of having a venue partner for the event where we can organize this event - a reputed entity has approached us based on our event's goodwill and intentions. We are exploring the possibility to involve similar partners who are willing to partner with us without any profit motive. --Naik 01:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Activities planned

I believe we can plan for about 2-4 hours (depending on the participant interest) and include events like Debate / Quiz for school and college students relating to Wikipedia themes and even a Painting contest for kids if venue location permits apart from presentations, talks & discussions. Also, preceding the event, we can invite entries for an essay writing contest to be submitted by email or post. The overall purpose should be to raise awareness about Wikipedia and involve more people to contribute towards knowledge sharing. What do you feel? --Naik 01:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear all, Can we discuss about the ideas we plan to do during the Kochi session. Sree 14:42, 9 January 2011

Please share your ideas for the event. You can pick from the wiki10 ideas or share something even better. Naik 19:40, 10 January 2011

Publicity

Hoping to invite the media to cover the event. Have created a new email ID exclusively for event related communication: wikikochi (at) gmail dot com --Naik 01:37, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Event Date

As suggested by Sreekanth, we might not be able to get free merchandise (10th anniversary t-shirts, stickers, and buttons) for the event if we organize on Jan 15. Also, it will be better to have more time and participation if we postpone to a later date. Naik 14:40, 9 January 2011

Nithin has also posted a mail to Steven asking if it is possible to send free merchandises, if we plan to organize the event at a later date. Currently waiting for a response from Steven .Sree 16:13, 9 January 2011

Currently Johnson AJ sir as suggested that we go ahead with the Jan15'th date. Myself and Nithin too share the same opinion. Sree Jan '9th 9:42 PM IST

Can we organize the event later, say in April? Gives us more time to plan and execute and definitely more participation. - Naik 19:40, 10 January 2011

Would the event date as 17th April be convenient for most of you? --Naik 01:14, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Me and Johnson sir have planned to have an informal get-together to kick-off for future plans. Venue planned: Edapally Changampuzha Park, Kochi Date: 13th April, 2011 Time: 4 - 6 PM Johnson sir is getting required 'go-aheads' today from regional wikipedia leads who can help us organize better. --Naik 06:48, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
