- Description
- Wikipedia turns TEN on the 15th of January 2011. Across the world, over a hundred events are being planned by the community of wikipedians. These events are completely open to all. Some of the members of the Wikipedia Bangalore community who are not able to attend the event in Bangalore will be holding an event in Valparai, a small town in Tamil Nadu in the Anaimalai hills. The day-long event will include a meeting and a discussion reflecting on the idea of wikipedia, collaboration and sharing information. The group will then choose topics/articles to improve and will together work on these articles. The event will also introduce anybody who is interested in editing or contribution. New images to illustrate flora/fauna articles will be uploaded on Wikimedia commons. We do not expect a very large congregation as the place is small and the awareness on Wikipedia is low. Nonetheless, this would be the first ever Wikipedia event to be held in this town.
